GHERKIN
Sweet and sour greeting cards
Gherkin is my own initiative. I am very interested in creating my own line of sarcastic and cute greeting cards. My mission is to make them brutally honest at times, and sweet at other times. This is where the name Gherkin comes into it - they can be sweet or sour.

To inspire the greeting cards themselves and to provide a holistic identity, I worked on creating the logo first. It was challenging finding a pleasant gherkin shape whilst still keeping it simple.
To reinforce the printing process required in producing greeting cards - and to add a vintage look to the logo - I added a circle around the logo and a grainy/distressed texture. This makes it look like a stamp. Also, the typeface I chose not only reflects the overall style of the logo graphic but also works well with the vintage look.

It was important to me that the logo would work on a variety of colours, but especially with a kraft-paper brown. I intend at least some of the cards to be printed on brown card-stock. I have also printed envelope seals in a variety of colours to accompany the cards.
