BRIAR PATCH
A cute baby play-ware brand
A joint venture between myself and my friend: Ellen who crochets the most adorable baby things, from characters to hats and toys. Paired with my sewing skills, we thought we'd give the Perth market circuit a go. But not before we had the perfect brand, style guide and stall setup sussed out!

The main inspiration for the logo was the Briar rose of course. It was very important to me that the shape and consequent significance of the flower came across.

I played around with a lot of different concepts. I was very keen on a typographic logo for a while as it was perfect for vines and had a wild feeling to it. But Ellen pointed out that it was perhaps not great for small product tags, so I went back to the drawing board.

After a lot of experimenting, I arrived at a simple, graphic, easily sizeable logo. And due to the colour palette I chose, it can be altered to suit more masculine tastes - as we will be selling things for both boys and girls, it is important we don't limit our audience with an impractical colour choice.

I experimented with typography and altered the title font slightly so that the curve at the end of the b and p matched that of the logo graphic.

These are the final logos we chose. The softness - of both the colours and the shapes - reflects the product well. Now that the logo has been finalised, I need to make a formal style guide document for our reference.
